I'm not sure that I wear those rose-tinted spectacles but i may be wrong, Joe. It was definitely a terrific era culturally and also when a lot of social reform really got going but it was also, like any other time, I think, it had its ordinary everyday side too. Engelbert Humperdink got to No. 1 dis[lacing The Beatles in 1967. There was the Arab-Israeli War too so I don't try to paint an image of Utopia. It was, though, an extraordinarily exciting time to be a young white middle class arty English boy rebel!

I'm feeling envious, Colin, I was a little too young to er, fully enjoy the Sixties. By the time I got there, we were in the cynical seventies and that gave way to the awful eighties.
Is there any use of rose tinted specs looking back though, or was it really a time when anything seemed possible?

Thanks for sharing this story Patricia. It's good to hear that my impression of Peter Coyote was right. Sad though to hear of your sister's passing. She must have been a great person.

My sister was part of the scene between LA and San Francisco back in the early seventies. She became a close friend of Peter Coyote's. They worked together on a benefit called Cowboys for Indians that raised money to support AIM (American Indian Movement.) My sister died at this time last year and I found a beautiful pendant commemorating the event and inscribed from Peter Coyote among her belongings. Being uptight and back east, I missed a lot,
but got to live vicariously through my remarkable sister,

It was an amazing experience working on that show, Sue and i think it stands up pretty well all these years later. I couldn't possibly recommend it but I'm told there is a pirated serialisation of the whole documentary on Utube. Tut-tut!

I'm trying not to be envious of these experiences of yours. At the time, I was sitting on the opposite side of the Atlantic simply screaming whenever I could get a glimpse of the Beatles on TV. I do wish I could see the entire show, though. It looks fantastic.
