There is so much to see and the countryside surrounding Florence is just as enchanting.

I too loved Santa Maria Novella and totally agree with you about it being worth the visit in its own right. Any one of so many of Florence's attractions would merit a visit to the city if none of the others existed but, luckily for us, there is a lifetime's worth of amazing experiences to be had there. I shall return as often as I can.
