I was sitting on the top deck of an English double-decker bus in a seat at the front – always the best place to be unless there is a crash. This was last night somewhere in rural England in torrential rain. The windows steamed up as darkness fell and I sat watching the blurry images of vehicles speeding through the night. I was on a journey through England and through my life – or so it seemed. This image, taken through that window, reflected my thoughts with its lack of certainty, its touch of fear but also the sense of dynamic excitement. It is a good symbol for one of those days when anything could happen.
