On the first Wednesday of every month, I host a meeting of Lewes’ First Wednesday Writers in the wholesomely welcoming Pleasant Stores in Lewes. So I’m sorting through my poetry to see what i should read later. I’m hoping that the other members will be doing the same because it is a great  atmosphere there when we sit around sharing our work or reading poetry by our favourite poets. There are no “stars” here even when established poets come along. Egos are left at the door with the umbrellas and we meet just as people who want to communicate with other poetry lovers. It’s a good place to read as it’s cosy and friendly, small enough for everyone to hear and big enough to pack in a healthy crowd of poets and their friends. We can also try some of Pleasant’s very pleasant food and drink too. I’ve just seen the organic cheese man do his deliveries, hmmm, well I’m ready. Why not join us? It would be good to meet you.

Tonight, I’ll be raising the curtain on the first night of the new monthly poetry event in my home town of Lewes, UK. We are meeting in the very pleasant Pleasant Stores for what is, I hope, a very democratic gathering of writers reading their own poetry and short fiction with me as the master of ceremonies. If there’s room for me, I shall read some of my own published poetry and some new poems too so I hope to see any of my readers who can make it here to Lewes either tonight and/or at the future monthly meetings to be held, as you’ve guessed, on the first Wednesday of every month.
