100 years ago today, international diplomacy failed catastrophically – have we learnt the lesson yet?

One hundred years ago today, diplomacy having failed, Britain declared war on Germany. World leaders and heads of state negotiated ways of preventing war but no diplomatic solution was found. Four years later 37 million soldiers and civilians were dead. One hundred years later can we trust our leaders to find diplomatic solutions to bloodshed?
