I’m always impatient for the end of the Christmas season by the time we reach this fag-end stage of the festivities. The New Year is making its own demands now and all those decorations and sad-looking Christmas trees are waving me goodbye. I shall wait though until the 5th January, the official Twelfth Night, before I take them down even though I really don’t believe that missing the deadline would bring a year of bad luck on this household. In Lewes, UK, today, in the rain, Christmas looked well and truly over. Fine by me – it was fun whilst it lasted but now I’m excited to get on with 2013. I hope all of you are too.
