In praise of those strong pioneering women from the 19th. Century.

I have been around a number of strong women over the last week, all praise to them.  It made me think about some of the common misunderstandings about Victorian women that make them seem like limp and wilting violets dependent on their husbands for all things. These two 19th. Century photographs tell a different tale – now that is what I call tough.
