Lewes on a melancholy Autumn afternoon

Just when I was about to despair about us getting any Autumn here in Lewes, England, the sun came out, the temperature rose and, hey, it all felt good again. There were apples on the trees, the sun on my back and blackbirds singing as they dived bombed the new berries ripening all around us.

Well, let’s not exaggerate, it also feels a touch on the melancholy side on days like this but it was nice to walk around town on a sunny afternoon with Joni Mitchell playing on my iPod.

It wasn’t morning, and it wasn’t Morgantown but I think Joni would have understood my sentiments.

Lewes does days like this properly so I lingered a little self-indulgently.
