I know Ronnie Lee Gardner was a convicted and confessed murderer. I know too that it was possible to see how someone with his emotional and mental history could have committed his crimes twenty-five years ago. I know that he had lived long enough to feel genuine remorse for his actions. I also believe that his execution was an act of brutality from a country that I admire.
Take a look at the chilling attempt of the authorities to make death by firing squad look humane and clinical. To my eyes the sanitising of such a brutal act makes it look all the more inhuman. Please America, stop doing this.
