I’m reading my poem Aleppo in Manhatttan, New York.

My poem Aleppo will be on display at Pleiades Gallery, Manhattan, New York City from 11 June until 6 July where it will be displayed with Heather Stivinson’ s exhibition Borders and Boundaries. Opening reception: 13 June, 6-8pm. It will be followed on Saturday 6 July with a special event: Ekphrasis: A Poetry Reading with live speakers and with me, as the only non-American, reading from a pre-recording. If any of you can get to New York, do visit the show. I’m thrilled to be a part of it. You can hear my recording and see some of Heather Stivison’s pictures on the press release link here: https://www.heatherstivisonart.com/borders-and-boundaries

Presenting contemporary art for more than 50 years, Pleiades Gallery is one of the oldest and most well-established galleries in New York City. Founded in Soho in 1974 by a group of like-minded artists, the gallery has hosted some of the world’s finest artists including William Behnken, who was a founding member, and Renee e. Rubin, both of whom have works in major museums including MoMA, the Met, and Brooklyn Museum. Over the years, Pleiades Gallery has also hosted notable presentations and panel discussions that have included such luminaries as John Cage, Christo, Merce Cunningham, and Lucy Lippard.

Today, the gallery is located in Chelsea’s Landmark Arts Building, in the heart of Chelsea just steps away from the High Line and situated among the most prestigious galleries in Manhattan. Pleiades has developed into a Chelsea institution with high standards that are continuously refreshed by new artists representing a diversity of styles, ages and viewpoints and that are creating work across a broad range of mediums.
